Why I built Thrive.
I started Thrive because I spent twenty years helping students navigate college, and the past several years helping my own children do the same. As a professional, the decisions are technical. As a parent, they are personal. Either way, the choices made before the first day of college, and every term after, shape what becomes possible.
My background.
Before Thrive, I co-founded one of the first companies to bring college orientation online, back when that was a new idea. In the years since, I’ve worked with students across virtually every type of four-year institution: small liberal arts colleges, large public universities, private research schools, faith-based institutions. The institutions are different, but the underlying questions are the same: which courses, which major, which trade-offs, which next step.
What changes from student to student isn’t the questions. It’s how much support each one needs to answer them well.
